As a wedding photographer, we have years of experience shooting various locations and venues in the New York Metro Area (literally – we’ve photographed over 300 weddings!). When navigating the wedding planning process, it can be so difficult to figure out venues, vendors, logistics, and budgets. That being said, we thought it would be helpful to give some information based on our experience photographing weddings at The William Vale Hotel. See all the details below!
The William Vale is located in the heart of Williamsburg at 111 N 12th Street in Brooklyn. Surrounded by industrial warehouses with soaring views of the entire Manhattan skyline, the space will take your breath away. The 23rd floor rooftop makes an incredible ceremony space for both locals and out-of-town guests alike. And because the venue is also one of the best hotels in Brooklyn, easy room blocks and personal concierge make hosting a large event a seamless experience for your guests.
If you're looking for a Brooklyn wedding with an all-inclusive yet luxury experience, look no further than the William Vale. All catering is provided in-house by Chef Andrew Carmellini and Noho Hospitality Group, including staffing, beautiful tables and chairs, linens, and standard rentals. This means you can rest assured the team supporting your event will be experienced.
You can have up to 220 guests for a seated dinner and reception at this venue. Multiple spaces, including the Vale Ballroom, the Vale Pool & Terrace, and rooftop bar Westlight, means that you have flexibility depending on weather and an easy flow for guests from event to event. You can even have your reception outdoors under market lights!
One of the best things about getting married at The William Vale is their luxury penthouse suit, the Vale Garden Residence. This art-filled, two-story duplex with a stunning outdoor space and private pool makes an incredible space for getting ready photos and a view to wake up to the morning after.
The William Vale has this bold, almost futuristic energy to it — sleek lines, dramatic architecture, and panoramic views that hit differently once you're standing on the terrace. It's a place that photographs beautifully, but there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind to really make the most of it.
For portraits, that terrace view is the star, but it can get harsh mid-day, especially if the sun is high. If possible, aim for that late-afternoon window when things soften and the skyline gets that hazy, golden glow. And if your ceremony’s up there? We might recommend angling it so you're not squinting into the sun — your eyes (and photos) will thank you.
Indoors, the ballroom is great for flexibility, but a bit clinical if you’re not careful. Lighting and décor go a long way here. We suggest steering toward warmer tones in both florals and lighting - anything too cool or bright tends to reflect off the walls and create a very different (read: less flattering) mood in photos.
And finally, don’t overlook the in-between spaces. Vale Park? Great for a little breather and a few natural, romantic portraits. The wraparound balconies? Amazing for a quick, editorial-style shot that makes use of the skyline and the surrounding architecture. Even the elevators are a vibe.
The William Vale is modern, a little dramatic, and full of visual opportunities — as long as we stay aware of the light, timing, and details, we’ll be able to capture it all in a way that feels true to you.
