Elegant and Colorful Jewish Wedding in New Jersey

Jamie and Remy’s winter wedding in New Jersey was truly one for the books. Complete with a custom design buildout for lighting, florals, and space setup, their 250 guests were transported to a completely different world for the evening. Each space at the wedding ushered them from their romantic, heartfelt Jewish ceremony to a cocktail hour under 20-foot tall greenery. and trees, finished off with the most epic party and dance floor.

I first met Jamie at her sister Allie’s wedding, which was completely opposite in style and vibe to this one with its locale in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at a music bar and house club. I was immediately struck by Jamie’s vivacious personality and fun spirit. So when she reached out to me to photograph her wedding, I knew it was going to be an epic party.

From the moment the day began, Jamie and Remy were all about spending time with their most loved people. And they had a lot! Both partners each had 18 people in their individual wedding parties, leading to a crew that resembled a small football team…and lent itself to some absolutely epic portraits.

After they read their vows to one another in private in the town park where Jamie had grown up, we did some candid portraits with an editorial feel. Then they had their ketubah signing, ceremony, and epic reception where their guests partied the night away. The couple even crowd surfed at the end of the night!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Katherine

Born to a Cuban architect and an American history buff, I was raised with a passion for storytelling and an eye for the little details.

I received my BA from Tufts University and was lucky enough to train in long-form narrative photojournalism under World Press Photo Chairman Gary Knight. While based in Rome working for the United Nations, I was hit by a car on my way home from work — what I call my “Regina George” moment.
