As a wedding photographer, we have years of experience shooting various locations and venues in the New York Metro Area (literally – we’ve photographed over 300 weddings!). When navigating the wedding planning process, it can be so difficult to figure out venues, vendors, logistics, and budgets. We thought it would be helpful to give some information based on our experience photographing weddings at Hudson House. See more below!
Situated at the end of Port Liberté in Jersey City, Hudson House boasts stunning views of the entire New York City skyline and Statue of Liberty from its perch on the Hudson River. The newly built venue is the perfect balance between modern and timeless, with soaring cathedral ceilings in it ballroom with marble flooring throughout the building. Multiple locations from the Grand Ballroom to the Hudson Room to the outdoor rooftop and Gardens create a unique atmosphere for guests that will flow throughout the wedding.
Hudson House is run by Landmark Venues, a mainstay in the New York metro area event scene. With an in-house coordination team, you can rest assured every detail will be accounted for. Their celebration experts will help you create everything from your custom craft cocktails to your farm-to-table menu and bring your wedding vision to life.
You can have up to 300 of your friends and family by your side for the wedding and seated dinner. Multiple spaces, including the outdoor gardens and Hudson Room, means that you have flexibility depending on weather and even up to 500 guests for some events.
What’s also great about Hudson House is that it is perfectly located. Less than 30 minutes from Manhattan by car, it is easily accessible for your guests but feels like a world away. Local hotels in New Jersey are close as well.
If you’re getting married at Hudson House in New Jersey, first of all - amazing choice. Between the floor-to-ceiling windows, the rooftop terrace, and that panoramic NYC skyline view, it’s easily one of the most photogenic venues in the area.
A first look can also be a great idea here — it gives us more time to explore the waterfront, get those modern editorial-style shots in the marble staircase and ballroom, and ease some of the pressure from the post-ceremony timeline.
Hudson House has such strong architectural features that really elevate your portraits, the clean lines and neutral palette make it ideal for timeless, elevated images with just a touch of that cool, magazine feel.
If you’re adding any reception lighting or décor, we always suggest leaning into warm tones and candlelight, soft golds or amber tones photograph beautifully and complement the modern interior without clashing, unlike purples or greens which can cast odd colors.
