A Brooklyn Artist and a Manhattan Lawyer Fall in Love and Get Married at 99 Scott

From the first moment I sat down with Julie for beers at Union Pool to discuss her upcoming wedding at 99 Scott, we just got one another. She and Matt met at a local political meeting in Brooklyn. These two self-proclaimed love cynics describe their meeting as love at first sight.

So their wedding was going to be something special. A true reflection of them and their partnership, and 99 Scott was the perfect wedding venue for it.

This new wedding venue located at 99 Scott Avenue in an industrial warehouse in Bushwick is absolutely stunning. The raw space has stunning soaring original windows and high ceilings. Couples have the chance to design the wedding to be personal and their own, yet letting the raw beauty of the space shine through.

The couple put modern touches on Jewish traditions. As guests arrived, there was a bedeken where Matt veiled Julie after their young rabbi introduced their story. The tallit on the chuppah was hand embroidered by Julie’s mother. “We wanted it to be an heirloom that we could pass down for generations,” said the bride.

Review from the Couple

The best advice I could offer any couple is to hire a photographer as talented, personable and intuitive as Katherine. Because when all is said and done, when the meal is forgotten and the toasts are distant memories, you will feel more than blessed to own photographs as dynamic, personal and expressive as Katherine’s…

Hiring Katherine was not only the best decision we made, but it was the best gift we could give ourselves. Katherine is a true professional and an artist. But what makes her work so remarkable is not just her expertise, but it’s her dedication and passion. When we first met it was clear from the get-go that she loves what she does and that wedding photography is not just a business for her, but a passion. She works hard to create a product that not only lives up to her standards, but that honestly and intrinsically tells the story of her subjects.

She takes the time and goes the distance to learn about you, to listen to your narrative, and to witness your love so that she can bet capture you in all your honesty, spirit and individualism. And, because this is also so essential to the process!, I can say in all honesty that Katherine is one of the most spirited, generous and beautiful people I have known.

You would be fortunate to have her by your side and on your team. I could not recommend Katherine and her crew more highly!! They were a godsend, and we could not be more thankful. Her photographs have become some of my most prized possessions and most cherished memories.

Instead of the usual spiel, let me give you the real scoop on what I do and why it might just be what you're looking for in your wedding photographer.

My approach? It’s all about capturing the raw, unfiltered joy and those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments. I believe in photography that tells a story - your story - with all its unique quirks, laughter, and, of course, love.

I’m talking about the tearful smiles, the spontaneous dances, and the silent glances that speak volumes. My style is a blend of candid documentary and artistic flair, ensuring each photo feels as real and vibrant as the moment it captures. I don't just take pictures; I preserve memories.

Welcome to the party! I’m Katherine Marchand.
