The Love Story | Kayli & John Austin

Kayli and John Austin’s story began with a spontaneous trip from D.C. to Atlanta music for a music festival in September 2017. Little did Kayli know, she’d meet her future husband there. They hung out as friends that weekend, and although they didn’t start dating right away, they kept in touch. Fast forward to November, when John Austin visited D.C. and things started to click. Four years later, in February 2021, John Austin popped the question at Kayli’s family home in Key Largo. With a bit of scheming involving her brother and dad, he pulled off the perfect proposal by the water.

Against the lush backdrop of Troutbeck, they were the essence of a luxury English garden party. Beyond their impeccable appearance, the group’s infectious energy made them an absolute joy to collaborate with.

The Outdoor Ceremony

The Walled Garden

The Walled Garden set the perfect scene for the ceremony. The aisle was lined with vibrant floral arrangements, leading to a stunning freestanding floral arch crafted by the talented Abby from Hellabloom. Despite the sweltering heat, the atmosphere was charged with romance, authenticity, and emotion. The couple’s path to the altar was unique, having officially wed the Wednesday prior at a charming stone church in Kayli’s hometown. This allowed them to truly savor and exchange personal vows during their outdoor Troutbeck ceremony. The moment was deeply moving, especially as John Austin recited his heartfelt vows to Kayli – even I was teary-eyed. Choosing “Lovely Day” as their recessional song, a track filled with cherished memories, was the perfect way to conclude this touching ceremony.

The cocktail hour seamlessly flowed between the main house and the charming back patio. Guests savored delectable passed appetizers while soaking in the tunes of a live band. The first floor of Troutbeck buzzed with cheerful mingling and laughter as everyone enjoyed this vibrant transition between ceremony and reception.

The Floral-Filled Reception

The Troutbeck Ballroom

The reception unfolded in a vibrant ballroom bursting with colorful florals. Soft, romantic lighting added an inviting aura to the space, setting the stage for a magical evening. The centerpiece of the night, a stunning hanging floral installation above the tables, transported guests to a dreamlike world. This visual masterpiece reflected the couple’s creative vision and the florist’s artistry. Every detail, even down to the personalized napkins featuring the Troutbeck logo, showcased the couple’s dedication to a visually stunning and deeply meaningful celebration. While the evening was enriched with a romantic first dance and heartfelt toasts, the dance floor stole the spotlight, keeping the energy alive all night. Instead of the usual spiel, let me give you the real scoop on what I do and why it might just be what you're looking for in your wedding photographer.

My approach? It’s all about capturing the raw, unfiltered joy and those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments. I believe in photography that tells a story - your story - with all its unique quirks, laughter, and, of course, love.

I’m talking about the tearful smiles, the spontaneous dances, and the silent glances that speak volumes. My style is a blend of candid documentary and artistic flair, ensuring each photo feels as real and vibrant as the moment it captures. I don't just take pictures; you don't just want your picture taken, you want your memories preserved.

Welcome to the party! I’m Katherine Marchand.
